The Summit 1100 is a semi-automated system for prototyping, light assembly, and rework.  The system accommodates BGAs, flip chips, and surface mount devices.  A computer-controlled pick-up tube, and optical system allow the operator to quickly and easily perform rework operations requiring great accuracy.  Board clearances up to 2 (50.8 mm) inches is provided to accommodate larger components.

The X – Y table can support board sizes up to 18 X 22 inches (45 X 55 cm) and utilizes linear precision bearing slides for smooth and reliable operation.  Tables can include optional computer-controlled locks that secure the table after the board has been positioned.

The optical system is combined with a computer-controlled shuttle to provide fast and accurate component alignment.  The optical system displays component and board images on the computer monitor simultaneously during the part alignment process.  An optional split mirror allows the operator to see bumps, leads, or PCB pads at high levels of magnification.

The top heating cycle gently raises part and board temperatures locally without affecting adjacent components while the bottom heater plenum distributes hot gas to the entire bottom surface of the board maintaining thermal uniformity.

SRT’s proprietary SierraMate for Windows software combines advanced operating features with an easy-to-use graphical user interface.  SierraMate is based on SRT’s 1-2-3-GO software interface, which provides simplified choices for operators while hiding complex details.  The SierraMate 1-2-3-GO interface provides the operator with three choices:  board, component or site being reworked, and operation (sequence) to be performed.  After these three selections are made, the operator simply clicks on the GO icon and the rework sequence is performed according to preset parameters.
